Biostimulants are substances or microorganisms that help plants grow and manage
stress. They can be applied to plants, seeds, soil, or the rhizosphere (root zone).
How do biostimulants work :
• Improve nutrient uptake: Biostimulants help plants absorb nutrients more efficiently.
• Improve root development: Biostimulants help plants develop a larger surface area for
absorbing water and nutrients.
• Improve stress tolerance: Biostimulants help plants handle environmental stress, such
as heat or drought.
Examples of biostimulants:
• Humic and fulvic acids : These organic substances improve soil structure and water retention capacity.
• Seaweed extracts : These extracts are rich in minerals, sugars, and phytohormones.
• Amino acids : These organic compounds help plants build proteins and improve photosynthesis.
• Protein hydrolysates : These amino-acid and peptide mixtures can improve soil fertility and nutrient uptake.
• Beneficial microorganisms : These include bacteria, yeasts, and fungi that improve soil health and nutrient absorption.
Biostimulants are different from fertilizers, which directly provide nutrients to plants.
Biostimulants stimulate the plant's natural abilities to grow and thrive
